Family Bible study for the week of November 18th 2019

This is the very last week of the “Win Your War” series within our church. Each week I take notes during the sermon and at night throughout the week we like to review key points of the sermon, read key verses and end in prayer.

We Experience Jesus Christ as Lion and Lamb

Revelation 5:5-6- “And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.” And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. ” (ESV)

  • God is  both a lion and a lamb. Lions are tough and fierce, they are to be feared. Lambs on the other hand are gentle and social animals, and most would consider cute. Jesus is both. Jesus was a Lion with religious hypocrites. Jesus was a lamb with hurting and humble people.
  • Jesus is a Lion for his family and a lamb with his family
    • To emulate Christ love for us and our family. We need to be able to discern when the lion needs to go out and when the lamb needs to come home.

Key Point– The devil does not rule of Hell. Jesus Christ does, and to the people who choose  hell over Jesus Christs free gift of salvation they will experience Jesus Christ as a LION! Jesus Christ also rules over heaven! And for those of us who choose to receive his sacrifice, we will experience him as Lamb! Loving, adorning, and as a part of his family. The Lion goes out, The lamb comes home.

The Wrath of God

John 3:36 –   Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. (ESV)

  • Do you believe in Jesus Christ as the resurrected son and savior? As a real part of human history?
  • WRATH- all justice, No grace, no mercy, no exception.
  • Either you get wrath or Jesus takes it all for you.
  • There is passive and active wrath

Hell

Matthew 25:41 – “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. (ESV)

Revelations 14:10-11 – he also will drink the wine of God’s wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his anger, and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.”

  • Hell is equally as real as heaven
  • Jesus took the cup of your sins, drank it, and died on the cross so that you have the ability to accept that sacrifice as a gift from our father and join him in heaven.
  • Hell is freely chosen. He have the option of choosing Jesus free unconditional love for us. And when we reject that, and choose earthly desired and temptations, we are rejecting our invitation to heaven and choosing our place in hell. It is  CHOICE! the only time we Christians should be Pro-Choice is when we choose heaven, and even then we are choosing life with Jesus.
  • You are saved From God, By God, For God!

Key Point – We all are children of God. Jesus Christs death and resurrection is the invitation into Gods house. In his house we are warm and protected, he even has a cozy room for us. He loves and protects his sons and daughters. By accepting this invitation, we are securing our room in heaven. The invitation is extended to everyone, but only those who accept it our allowed into his home.

Hell is…

Revelation 20:12-15

  • Review the verse and picture what hell is.

The war to end all wars

Revelation: 19:11-16

  •  Right now Jesus Christ is sitting on the throne in heaven.
  • Satan will make you think that you are the ruler and that that throne is yours. He will make you think that you can do a better job of ruling over your life than Christ can. This is deception. Trust in the lord because his plan for your life is greater than you think and grater than you CAN think.
Key Point- Jesus Christ will come back oneday. And he will call each and everyone of us by name. We will stand before Christ and make our account to him and show him our hearts. There will be a second coming of Christ. For some of us this will be the most amazing and glorious day if we choose to accept his gift. And for others this will be the day where they will have wished they accepted his free love and sacrifice. For Christians, earth is the closest to hell we will ever get and for others this will be the closest to heaven that they will ever experience.

The Kingdom of Heaven

Revelation 21:1-5

  • Jesus will come and he will make the world NEW!
  • we are new creations within Christ
Prepare for your promotion
1 Corinthians 2:9
Revelations 5:10
  • Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven
  • There will be a part thrown when the lord comes again. We will celebrate with our father

Key Points- Every single day  our choices either bring heaven down into our lives. or we bring hell up into our lives. The bottom line is we are heading to heaven with God or to hell with Satan. You choose.
